We wish to inform you that the next AJHQ-HJAQ Continuing Education Seminar will take place on Thursday, June 2,  2022, online, from 12:30 to 14h00. The seminar will be 1.5 hours and free of charge for our members in good standing and only 60$ for all the other participants.  Please register by 12:30 p.m. on June 1st, 2022, so you can receive the link for the virtual platform. 

An overview of the recent developments in abuse of procedure, professional liability for notaries and lawyers, the impact of the pandemic on civil liability as well as the impact of the internet on defamation-presented by Me Patrice Deslauriers, Professor, Faculty of Law, Université de Montreal.   

Patrice Deslauriers has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree from the Université de Montréal, as well as a Master’s of Advanced Studies (D.E.A.) Degree in private law from the Université Panthéon-Sorbonne (Paris I). He was called to the Barreau du Québec in 1987 and is a Full Professor at the Law Faculty, where he has been teaching since 1990. He has also occupied the position of Associate Dean for Academic Development. Since 2003, he is the associate editor of The Canadian Bar Review.
He is co-author, with Jean-Louis Baudouin and BenoĂ®t Moore, of the 9th edition of the book “La responsabilitĂ© civile” (Two volumes) published in 2020 by Éditions Yvon Blais.
He has also written several articles on civil liability and insurance and collaborates each year in the updating of the book “Liability” in the Collection de droit de l’École du Barreau (Vol. V).
 
At the Université de Montréal, he teaches civil liability, the theory of obligations, professional liability and insurance law, among others. He is also a visiting professor at Université Paris II (Panthéon-Assas) since 2016 and lecturer at École du Barreau du Québec. Professor Deslauriers has participated as a speaker at several conferences in Quebec, Canada and abroad. He also acts as an expert in Quebec law in Canadian and American cases.

To participating lawyers – Training the eligibility of which has been confirmed by the Barreau du QuĂ©bec for the purposes of mandatory continuing education, for a period of one and half (1.5) hours.
